On our way
Updated: Jul 13, 2020
Left Micheldever this morning, picking up Freddie and excitingly a decaff Americano on route, with then an easy drive down the A303 peppered with the fear of being too close to the road edge. Obviously at Stonehenge, we were static, with a strawberry seller in the layby next to us. The bus is quite wide, the roads not so, rattles big time, and it struggles on the hills.
At Lands End by 6pm to check out the starting line. Beautiful Cornish day, awesome views, flat sea and bright sunshine. Then to Sennen Cove for a quick swim and beer (Dad was here over 30 years ago on a surf camp with Dr Bailey).
We are now in the Lands End carpark, rebelliously as there's no overnight camping apparently. In the setting sun the risk is worth it!
What have we learnt? There is no way 5 can move around this van; washing and washing up is a challenge; waving to every motorhome is going to get boring and risk RSI; the loo is too high for Is to sit on; we can eat a whole pack of spaghetti in one sitting; Cornish hornets are massive; we need more USB charging points; the kids can wait until 8pm to load their Garmins.
Tomorrow we start. 9am to avoid the council parking attendant. Couple of photos and we are off. Watch this space. Issy's Instagram is oscar_freddie_lejog
